Courtney Love not guilty of Twit-libel, still guilty of being Courtney Love
Courtney Love, who unsuccessfully defended herself against charges of Twitter libel (to the tune of $430,000) back in 2011, has prevailed in her current defense, a jury decided on January 24. As perhaps you'll recall, the one-time singer/current public disaster Tweeted that her lawyer, Rhonda Holmes, had been "bought off" in a case in which Love was suing the estate of her former husband, Kurt Cobain. Love claimed that she intended the Tweet as a private direct message, and that she quickly deleted it. Love will not have to pay the $8 million that Holmes was seeking, and now she can go back to being the upstanding public figure she was before. [h/t to Huffington Post, who nevertheless dropped the ball by saving this quote for the very end of the story: "I don't tweet like I did back then," Love said.]
