Crackle made a host of announcements out of its upfront presentation this morning, heralding the continuation of a bunch of its series, a new project from 50 Cent, and an eclectic development slate. First up, the network has given Snatch, its Guy Ritchie adaptation starring Rupert Grint, a second season, and its animated comedy SuperMansion a third. High-tech drama StartUp’s renewal was announced back in January, but now we know that the new episodes will premiere September 28 and will feature Hellboy himself Ron Perlman—now also a producer on the show—and Addison Timlin as a father-daughter pair.
But the biggest news out of the event was that the streaming service ordered ten hour-long episodes of a drama executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and created by former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy and Hawaii Five-O writer Joe Halpin. Called The Oath, the show will, according to a press release, tackle “gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend.” Meanwhile, Crackle also revealed it was developing three other shows, including one called The Row about death row inmates “sent on an experimental mission with a 1 percent chance of survival” to space. The others include Accident Park, about a guy who buys a theme park where he was once injured, and Tribes, based on a dystopian graphic novel.
