NBC viciously broke all of our hearts back in 2015 when it abandoned plans for a Coach revival series, but it looks like Craig T. Nelson has recovered from that disappointment and is ready to take on another regular TV gig. According to Deadline, he’s set to play the male lead in the ABC comedy pilot Raised By Wolves, an adaptation of a British series of the same name. The American version comes from Diablo Cody and Berlanti Productions, and it centers on a woman played by Georgia King raising her “opinionated, eccentric kids on a shoestring budget in a Midwestern town.” Nelson will play Grampy, the woman’s father, who Deadline describes as a “cheerfully entitled baby boomer with limited resources” who often takes advantage of his daughter but still “provides an odd comfort to the family.”
The solid pedigree of Diablo Cody, Craig T. Nelson, and Berlanti Productions should give Raised By Wolves a good chance of getting taken to series, but it’s always impossible to tell with this sort of thing.
