Create shockingly successful erotica with the Fifty Shades text generator
As the world waits with bated breath for the release of the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, one MIT engineer and developer advocate at Google has created an impressively robust program for people to create their own middling and poorly written erotica. The program is so successful at copying author E.L. James’ style that it bears repeating that these are not excerpts from the books but instead randomly arranged sentences using a Dada Engine.
The creator, Lisa Wray, set out to show that the books’ prose was so awful that a computer program could easily simulate the same style. The Fifty Shades Text Generator proves just that with such entries as:
Moving suddenly, he pushes me against the wall. He’s pinning me to the wall using his hips, and my breathing is too loud. Forceful, his eyes wild, his skilled tongue invades my mouth. My pulse is haywire.
Leaning down, he kisses me, dominating, making my muscles clench deep, deep inside. He plants a soft kiss on my lips, insistent, warmth pooling below my waist, feeling spiraling out from deep within my belly. His tongue invades my mouth, and dark desire unfolds throughout my body. He kisses me, dominating, my insides liquefying, sparking electricity … below. He grabs my hair and yanks down, pulling my head back. My inner goddess swoons and passes out somewhere in the back of my head.
Again, this is not something written by a human (or taken from an existing work) but instead a computer program that takes various grammars and reassigns them in different patterns to produce these words.
Oh my. That power!
‘Keep still,’ he breathes as he hovers over me.
Leaning down, he softly kisses my bottom lip, tasting, feeling spiraling out from deep within my belly. He plants a soft wet kiss on my lips, insistent, sparking electricity … below. Insistent, exploring, dominating, he kisses me. I can hear a song by Justin Bieber drifting through the air. He always puts songs on repeat in here. I gasp at his words , and his fingers curl into my hair, lifting his other hand to cradle my face as we kiss.
Moving suddenly, he grabs me by the shoulders, pushing me against the desk. All the air leaves my body, making me writhe, pleasure lancing directly to my groin. He plants a soft kiss on my lips, exploring, making me yearn for him, making me writhe. I groan loudly, panting.
Is it getting hot in here or is it just a surprisingly accurate simulacrum produced by a computer program? Those interested in generating their own can visit the site and then copy and paste the results into their books and soon have a hit on their hands. If the machines can write middle of the road erotica for us, truly the singularity is nigh.
