Crescent City culture

New Orleans was something like the 35th largest U.S. city in terms of population, but in terms of cultural impact, it was far more significant. Just by way of honoring that, and without intending to downplay the enormous human suffering that's going on in the city right now, here are a few of the artists and artworks that the Crescent City inspired, spawned, or otherwise had a hand in bringing to American culture:

Louis Armstrong.
A Confederacy Of Dunces.
All The King's Men.
Fats Domino (who survived Katrina)
King Creole.
The French Quarter.
Dr. John.
• "When The Saints Go Marchin' In."
Down By Law.
Live And Let Die.
Tipitina's.
Jambalaya.
• "Jambalaya."
• "So I drifted down to New Orleans / Where I happened to be employed / Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat / Right outside of Delacroix."
• "Seen the arrow on the doorpost / Saying, 'This land is condemned / All the way from New Orleans / To Jerusalem.'."
• "The Lakes Of Pontchartrain."
• "House Of The Rising Sun."
King Oliver.
• Krazy Kat's George Herriman.
Paul Morphy.
Jean Lafitte.
New Orleans Cemetery No. 1.
Easy Rider.
Marie Laveau.
Jazz funerals.
Jelly Roll Morton.
• The vampire Lestat.
• The Soul Jazz compilations New Orleans Funk and Saturday Night Fish Fry.

That's all just off the top of my head. Feel free to add more in the comments.
