Crystal Skull writer to return for fifth Indiana Jones adventure
Like many other sets of raw data, IMDB credits can be manipulated to suit a headline writer’s ends. For example, you could have seen an article whose headline read, “Jurassic Park and Mission: Impossible screenwriter to write fifth Indiana Jones movie,” and you would have clicked on it and thought to yourself, “Oooh, interesting.” Or you could have seen a headline that said “Mortdecai director to write fifth Indiana Jones movie,” and you would have clicked on it and thought to yourself, “Ugh, why?” (Alternately, we could have referenced Apartment Zero or Ghost Town, but then you probably wouldn’t click on the article at all.) Point is, all of those credits belong to the same person, and his name is David Koepp.
The Hollywood Reporter brings news of Koepp’s involvement with the film, which isn’t surprising considering he’s worked with director Steven Spielberg many times before. Most relevant to our current situation, he wrote the screenplay for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which maybe would have sucked less if the whole thing didn‘t have that Phantom Menace green-screen stink on it. (Maybe.) Speaking of, there’s no word yet if George Lucas, who got a story credit on Crystal Skull, will be involved. But, as THR points out, certain concessions will have to be made for star Harrison Ford’s age, as he’ll be 77 by the time this newest Indy adventure comes out in July of 2019. Feel free to run with that in the comments.
