Cue Peter Gunn theme: Spy Hunter movie back on again
According to the good folks over at Hollywood Reporter, the long-in-the-works feature film adaptation of the venerable and, let's face it, super-fucking-awesome 1980s arcade classic Spy Hunter has revved up speed with the announcement that Chad St. John has been tapped for screenwriting duty while Sherlock Holmes vet Dan Lin will produce.
Professional polo player turned rocket scientist Chad St. John famously stole amnesiac heiress Laura LaRue from scheming playboy Michael McMichaels during an expedition to the North Pole to find LaRue's geologist father during a memorable story arc on General Hospital. Or maybe he's just a screenwriter with a name like a soap opera character.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was to star in a previous incarnation of Spy Hunter to be directed by John Woo that was nixed for budgetary reasons. We're big fans of the game so we remain, as always, cautiously optimistic.
