Da’vine Joy Randolph and Sheaun McKinney join Danny McBride in Vice Principals
HBO is busy populating the shark tank that will be Vice Principals, the Danny McBride vehicle about “a high school and the people who almost run it—the vice principals.” Danny McBride will be one of the vice principals, which is perfect because who wouldn’t want to see Kenny Powers chasing after disaffected students armed with nothing but detention slips and a short fuse?
Now Deadline brings news that Da’vine Joy Randolph (Selfie) and Sheaun McKinney (Graceland) have joined Vice Principals. Randolph has been cast as Dr. Belinda Brown, Lincoln High’s “confident and powerful” school principal, which sounds like a contrast to a certain presumably insecure and impotent vice principal. McKinney is playing Dayshawn, a cafeteria worker whose job which should position him near the eye of disciplinary storms perfect for provoking McBride’s character.
HBO has commissioned 18 episodes of the comedy series, which will be executive produced by Eastbound And Down producers Danny McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Laing.
