Daenerys Targaryen's "bless your heart" face is too relatable

Last Sunday’s Game of Thrones still felt pretty expository, setting things up for a big battle and its bloody, bloody aftermath. One of those moments was an intriguing heart-to-heart between Daenerys Targaryen and Sansa Stark, one meant to diffuse the tension brewing since Daenerys arrived in Winterfell with Jon. And while the pair’s reconciliation feels short-lived, the Twitter fodder that came from it is gold, with one well-timed screengrab giving way to the show’s best new meme.
The meme is multi-faceted, serving as a searing, Southern-style “bless your heart” or a sarcastic, just-grin-and-bare-it reaction. However way you take it, it’s perfect for anyone who’s spent a day in customer service.
Unfortunately the customer is always right, even when they’re wrong, so this is a face with which too many of us are familiar. The tight smile, the sugary-sweet eyes, the subtle lean forward—the latter of which being the only indication of just how close you are to actual strangulation. Was that Daenerys’ intention here? Not quite, as it precedes her non-answer to the question about the North’s freedom in the future, but it nevertheless nails the tension brewing between the two, the likes of which will soon boil over.
