Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill dance around The Last Jedi questions

Earlier this week we finally learned that Star Wars: Episode VIII will be titled The Last Jedi, which immediately prompted a series of follow-up questions: Who exactly is the last Jedi? Is it Luke Skywalker? Is it Rey? Is the word “Jedi” meant to be read as plural? Actor Josh Gad figured he had an easy way to get some answers given that he’s starring with Daisy Ridley in Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express adaptation. Alas, he had no such luck. In a video posted to Instagram, Gad documents Ridley’s visit to his trailer ostensibly to discuss a scene they are about to perform. But Agatha Christie does not come up. Instead he poses: “Who are the last Jedi?” Ridley responds: “We’re not doing this Josh.” As Gad continues his interrogation, she eventually concedes that “it does sound ominous.” Well, we got that.

Mark Hamill also shared his rather vague thoughts on the name in an interview with The Associated Press. “It’s straightforward and minimalist and I like that,” he said.

The Last Jedi—whoever that may refer to—is due out December 15, 2017.
