Dakota Johnson to star in, but probably not play The Sound Of Metal
While that 50 Shades Of Grey sequel sorts itself out, Dakota Johnson is taking on slightly more colorful fare, like the Rebel Wilson buddy film, How To Be Single, which will be released next month. And now Deadline reports that Johnson, who’s also attached to the Suspiria remake with Tilda Swinton, is set to star in The Sound Of Metal with Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl). Johnson has been cast as the singer of a band that presumably includes the drummer that Schoenaerts will play. We don’t know if the band is actually a metal band, or if the movie’s title just refers to the sounds of the cymbals the drummer’s always dropping. But said drummer will have to come to grips—traditional or matched—with his hearing loss that could mean a life without sound. The film, which is Darius Marder’s (Loot, The Place Beyond The Pines) feature directorial debut, is still in the process of securing financing, but producers Michael Costigan (Prometheus) and Ben LeClair (Nacho Libre) are reportedly looking to start shooting in August.
