Damian Lewis joins the “all-female” Ocean’s Eight

For a film typically described as a an “all-female spin-off of Ocean’s Eleven,” the upcoming Ocean’s Eight sure is going to have a lot of men in it. We already knew that Matt Damon would pop up for some kind of cameo, presumably to reassure any concerned Ocean’s fans that the film will acknowledge the main series’ extensive mythology, and now Variety is reporting that Damian Lewis—another man—will be playing the film’s villain. The story says he’ll be the “ex-lover” of Sandra Bullock’s character, as well as the target of Bullock’s crew’s big heist, but it’s unclear if he’ll be yet another casino owner or just a rich jerk who wronged Sandra Bullock in some way.

The rest of the Ocean’s Eight crew includes Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson (that’s eight, right?), and it will be in theaters on June 8, 2018.
