With Happy Endings sadly long gone and Coach no longer a regular presence on New Girl, Damon Wayans Jr. has been in need of another vehicle for his comedic charm. Luckily, one is on its way. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Wayans is going to play as a “guy who loves to be in the moment” named Doug in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s FX pilot Singularity.
The sci-fi show written by Sonny Lee—who is executive producing with Rogen and Goldberg—is, as its title suggests, dealing with Ray Kurzweil’s famous theory. Hence, Doug’s predilection for living in the now means that he “is happily reliant on AI and seeks out all the pleasures technology has to offer.” Will that come to bite him in the ass? Perhaps. THR notes the project has a “similar tone to” the apocalypse-themed This Is The End.
