Dan Stevens to kick ass in Gareth Evans’ new revenge thriller
Dan Stevens, who killed just about everyone as a top-secret military operative in 2014’s The Guest, is reportedly in negotiations to rub out a few more bad guys in Gareth Evans’ new revenge thriller Apostle. The film is said to be a period film—although the specific period has not been revealed—and will potentially feature Stevens as “a man who travels to a remote island and attempts to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a religious cult.” And, as everyone knows, religious cults are the worst kind of cults.
“The group demands a ransom for the sister’s return,” according to Variety, “undermining the man’s resolve to rescue her.” With Evans, the man who behind The Raid franchise, directing, it can be assumed that things aren’t going to go according to plan, and that Stevens is likely to kick some serious ass. Perhaps hepicked up some pro tips from Liam Neeson on the set of A Walk Among The Tombstones?
While Adam Wingard’s gem The Guest seems relegated to cult status, Stevens is best known for crushing it as Matthew Crawley as on Downton Abbey, so a period piece where he gets to shed some blood should be a perfect combination for the actor. Stevens will also appear as Prince Adam in Disney’s live-action adaption of Beauty And The Beast, as well as FX’s Marvel adaptation Legion, and can currently be seen on the festival circuit in Nacho Vigalondo’s kaiju comedy-drama, Colossal.
