Danny Elfman will perform the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack live on Halloween
What’s this? What’s this? There’s something very wrong. What’s this? Danny Elfman is singing songs. What’s this? The streets are lined with people dressed like Tim Burton characters, everybody seems so happy. Have we possibly gone daffy? What’s this? What’s this?!
No, you haven’t been transported to a magical holiday world, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl is just putting on a special presentation of the music of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas this Halloween. That comes from Consequence Of Sound, which reports that Danny Elfman will headline the event, reprising his role as the singing voice of Pumpkin King Jack Skellington. He’ll be accompanied by a full orchestra and a presentation of the film itself, along with some unannounced “guest artists” who will show up to play the other characters. COS says The Hollywood Bowl will be “decorated and transformed into a real-life version of the film’s Halloween Town,” and—in what will surely be the biggest draw for L.A.’s Hot Topic customers—there will also be a costume contest for people dressed as Tim Burton characters. (We call dibs on the woman from Big Eyes!)
Tickets for the event will go on sale later this week, and you can see a promotional poster below.
