Danny Glover is still too old for this shit in the Almost Christmas trailer
It’s June, which means it’s the perfect time to get excited about a Christmas-themed movie scheduled to be released in November. At least that seems to be the thinking behind the release of this new trailer for Almost Christmas, the latest from Baggage Claim writer/director David E. Talbert. In the vein of The Family Stone, the film centers on a bunch of grown up children coming together for the holidays. Only this time around it’s Danny Glover rather than Diane Keaton taking on the role of beleaguered host.
The trailer focuses mostly on showing off the film’s impressive ensemble, which also includes Gabrielle Union, Mo’Nique, J.B. Smoove, Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps, and upcoming Independence Day: Resurgence star Jessie T. Usher. The central premise is that Glover is gathering his squabbling family together for the first Christmas since his wife died. Hijinks and a little bit of pathos ensue from there, leading Glover’s character to opine that—once again—he’s no longer the appropriate age for this shit.
