The Wrap is reporting that Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride has signed on to Ridley Scott’s new Alien movie, Covenant. And while it would be wishful thinking to imagine that McBride will be playing a character akin to Kenny Fucking Powers—or at least his portrayal of himself as a cannibalistic madman from This Is The End—in Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus, we’re just going to go ahead and do pretty much exactly that, because it’s a lot more awesome than if he’s just some second-tier, snake-poking red shirt.
McBride joins a cast that includes Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, and not Noomi Rapace, who Scott said won’t be returning for the film, set 10 years after the 2012 original. Plot and character details are being kept tight, but if we don’t get a scene of McBride tormenting, taunting, and performing lewd gestures with Fassbender’s severed robot head, it’ll definitely seem like a lot of effort was spent to not give the people what they want.
