Daredevil

Who he is: Daredevil, a.k.a. Matt Murdock, a.k.a. The Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen

His power: Blinded as a child, Matt Murdock’s other senses were heightened to a preternatural degree. He is trained extensively in martial arts and other forms of combat.

His story: Murdock lost his sight in a accident when a chemical compound got in his eyes, and his boxer father died soon after, after he refused to take a fall for gangsters who had paid him off to throw a fight. He was soon informally adopted by Stick, who trained him to use his heightened senses, and also taught him how to fight. He then went to law school and became a lawyer, starting his own low-rent firm with best friend Foggy Nelson. Simultaneously, Murdock began fighting crime at night in his neighborhood, dressed in all black, soon earning himself the moniker “Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen.” They soon took on an office assistant, Karen Page, but while Matt was fighting a lengthy battle against criminal businessman Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. Kingpin), Foggy learned of Matt’s secret identity. After defeating Kingpin, Matt and Karen began dating, but Matt’s ex-girlfriend Elektra shows up and complicates matters, causing Matt to end things with Karen. Simultaneously, he formed an uneasy alliance with The Punisher, a vigilante whom Matt disagrees with ethically, but whom he develops a begrudging respect for. Murdock takes down the local representatives of an ancient group of assassins known as the Hand, but Elektra is killed in the fight.

Played by: Charlie Cox

Currently, Daredevil is: Still in Hell’s Kitchen, though the law offices of Nelson And Murdock have shuttered their doors, leaving Matt a full-time vigilante.

Where will we see him next? Unclear; barring an appearance in the upcoming Iron Fist series, the next Daredevil appearance might be in the Netflix superhero team-up show, The Defenders.
