Darth Vader looms over the new Rogue One TV spot

This year’s installment in the now-eternal cycle of Star Wars movies, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hasn’t been the subject of quite as much hype as last year’s Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens. (Then again, what has?) But now, with the release date less than two weeks away and tickets officially on sale, it’s time to get excited about heading back to the galaxy far, far away.

A new TV spot has arrived to help stoke the fires of nerdy enthusiasm, featuring one big reason people—Mon Mothma die-hards excluded—are going to see this movie: The return of Darth Vader. Vader’s heavy mechanical breathing looms menacingly over the short, 30-second trailer, featuring some new and some recycled footage from earlier trailers featuring rebel fighters Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, and Forest Whitaker preparing for gritty space battle. Then come the familiar strains of “the Imperial March,” and voila: Luke and Leia’s deadbeat dad himself.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens December 16.
