Dave Bautista to get all sandy for Denis Villeneuve's Dune
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dave Bautista is set to reunite with his Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve for his big adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. We previously heard that Timothée Chalamet would be starring as super-powered desert messiah Paul Atreides, with Rebecca Ferguson playing his mother. Bautista will be playing “Beast Rabban,” the nephew of Baron Harkonnen (the guy in charge of the planet Arrakis), and it’s safe to say that he’s not really a nice guy. That should be a weird change of pace for Bautista who usually plays big guys who are actually kindhearted goofballs (Drax The Destroyer) or big guys who are actually nice and wear tiny glasses (Sapper, his Blade Runner dude). There’s certainly a chance that his Dune character will also be a goofball or wear tiny glasses, but we wouldn’t count on either of those.
Villeneuve’s Dune will be a two-parter, with the first one covering about half of the the original Dune book, and it’ll apparently be “Star Wars for adults.”
