Dave Grohl to bring his general awesomeness to SXSW keynote speaker slot
Dave Grohl will be heading down Austin way come this March to deliver the SXSW Music conference’s keynote address. The former Nirvana drummer and occasionally former Foo Fighters frontman will speak at the Austin Convention Center Thursday, March 14, presumably about what it’s like to be super cool and make a boatload of money just by being in the bands that you want to be in.
Perhaps not coincidentally, Grohl is also in the process of finishing his first documentary, Sound City: Real To Reel, which focuses on the legendary studio of the same name in Van Nuys, California where Neil Young, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Metallica, and more have recorded. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but given that a lot of it looks to be at least somewhat complete, the idea of it opening at the SXSW Film Fest isn’t outlandish.
