Dave Letterman is taking over Pearl Jam’s Rock Hall of Fame induction

Swapping out one irascible, iconoclastic genius for another, Rolling Stone reports that David Letterman will take over for Neil Young as the guy inducting Pearl Jam into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame later this week. (Young had to cancel his presentation to his long-time collaborators due to illness.)

Although their association doesn’t run quite as deep as Letterman’s love affair with the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Late Show have a long history together. The band played Letterman’s show seven times over his tenure at CBS (compared to a whopping zero appearances on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show).

Letterman’s fellow inductors at the ceremony include Snoop Dogg, Jackson Browne, members of Rush, Dhani Harrison, and Train’s Pat Monahan. The event is being held this Friday, and will be broadcast on April 29 on HBO.
