David Bowie is not only richer and sexier but probably smarter than you, as shown by his list of must-read books

In his decades-long effort to remind everyone of his superiority over the human race (see: Hunky Dory, almost everything else he's ever done), David Bowie has once again shown that he's not only far richer, sexier, and more fabulous than you, but probably smarter: As part of a Bowie-centric exhibit at the Art Gallery Of Ontario, he's assembled a list of his top 100 must-read books (as reported by Open Book Toronto).

It's a formidable list, featuring everything from ubiquitous classics (like George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, which Bowie named a song after) to comics anthologies (the Art Spiegelman-edited RAW) to contemporary bestsellers (such as Junot Diaz's The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao). In fact, exhibit curator Geoffrey Marsh points out that Bowie is reputed to read as much as "a book a day" (which, if you've ever read a whole book in a single day, could technically be said about you, too). Unless, of course, Bowie is just like all us lowly slobs, and he pretends to have read far more books than he actually has. Not that Bowie has ever been into pretending or anything.
