David Chase explains all (sort of...OK, not really)

The Newark Star-Ledger's Alan Sepinwall—who clearly owes The A.V. Club a royalty check by now—has an exclusive interview with David Chase about the controversial Sopranos series finale. Predictably, Chase lays it out there right away: "I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there," he says of the final scene. He then proceeds to explain it a little bit, along with some other aspects of the finale. (Note: It sounds like the theory that everyone in the diner had a grudge against Tony is bogus, A.V. Club commenters.)
