David Copperfield Thwarts A Robbery
David Blaine has been trying for years, but David Copperfield has finally found a practical use for magic.
After a show in West Palm Beach, Florida over the weekend, Copperfield was held up by two gunmen, and decided to play a trick on the robbers––Copperfield turned out his pockets to show that they were empty, even though he was carrying a wallet, a passport, and a cellphone.
His money safely illusioned away, the gunmen ran off, and Copperfield promptly gave an interview to the local paper mostly about the incident, but also a little bit about how great he is.
"I had a gun pointed at my head from 6 inches away," Copperfield said Tuesday between his two shows in Sunrise. "I'm pretty good under pressure. That's my job. But I had two young ladies with me."
Copperfield explained that he signed several autographs and took pictures with fans earlier on the fateful walk, and first assumed when the robbers came that they, too, wanted his signature.
"I could tell they didn't know me," he said.
Yeah. It sucks when the people robbing you have no idea how great you are at taking off your legs.
