David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis signs up Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard
As David Cronenberg prepares to start shooting A Dangerous Method in Germany, he’s already begun moving forward on his next project: an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel Cosmopolis. According to Variety, the film will star Colin Farrell—who, if we publish one more article about him today, will appear in our offices Candyman-style and, uh, hand out candy?—as a multi-billionaire whose journey across midtown Manhattan becomes a Ulysses-esque odyssey fraught with traffic jams, riots, funeral processions, stalkers, and various fortune-draining stock market gambles. Marion Cotillard has been tapped to play Farrell’s wife, with whom he has several chance encounters throughout the day. Though Cronenberg typically takes several years between films, he seems to be making up for lost time with Cosmopolis, scheduling principal photography for March of 2011.
