Apparently, Netflix is intent on continuing to do weird stuff with its established formats, because the streaming service announced today that David Fincher and Deadpool’s Tim Miller are putting together an animated anthology series called Love, Death & Robots that will consist of 18 episodes that are each five to 15 minutes long. The shorts will be made in different styles by different studios, directors, and animators from all over the world, covering the “science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comedy genres” (which are all the good genres anyway), with Miller noting in a press release that he’s “so fucking excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger culture conversation.” (Yes, he said “fucking” in a press release, so you know this shit’s for real.)
Netflix also released a bunch of teaser images in that same press release, showcasing some robots, some nudity, some monsters, and what appears to be a little cartoon Hitler. The press release doesn’t have a release date for the anthology series, but if you just look through these images really fast it’ll be almost like watching a cartoon.
