David Harbour smashes things real good in the first trailer for the Hellboy reboot
As news of director Neil Marshall’s reboot of the Hellboy movies has come out, the main line has been about how this one will be scarier and more gritty than Guillermo del Toro’s slightly more fantastical adaptations of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy comics. While that seems like a fine approach for Hellboy, it did seem as though Marshall may have been neglecting the fact that Mignola’s Hellboy comics are often very fun and silly. Now, Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the new Hellboy, and while there’s definitely some violence, there are also a whole lot of jokes. Really, the gag of Hellboy getting offended that people don’t recognize him is easy, but it’s also straight out of the comics. The trailer also has a cameo from what appear to be Baba Yaga’s walking house and iconic Hellboy villain Karl Kroenen
Now, if only David Harbour’s Hellboy face didn’t look quite so stiff and rubbery.
