According to Variety David Mamet will write and direct a forthcoming film based on the life of diarist/Holocaust victim Anne Frank. It is prohibitively difficult to comment wryly on this development without lapsing into humor of questionable taste (something I've never been guilty of) so we're just going to conclude that this project is both unexpected and promising. Mamet is a hell of a writer and Frank has a hell of a story so this could be a hell of a picture.
