David Tennant to say goodbye to Doctor Who

Doctor Who no more: The Daily Mail has the story that David Tennant will no be returning to Doctor Who for the fifth season in 2010 . Tennant has played the role for three seasons (or "series," if you're British.) Tennant assumed the role from Christopher Eccleston, the first actor to play the part following its 21st century revival under the supervision of showrunner Russell T. Davies, who also announced he will be stepping aside. Both will stay on board through a series of four specials preceding the fifth season premiere.

Tennant has gained acclaim for his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The identity of the next Doctor remains a matter of fervent speculation for seemingly everyone in the U.K. and dozens of American nerds.
