Dax Shepard is co-directing Warner Bros.’ animated Scooby-Doo movie
Parenthood star Dax Shepard might be signing on to the creative team for Warner Bros.’ planned Scooby-Doo movie, according to Variety. Shepard—who’s directing the upcoming CHiPs film, and who previously starred in stuff like Punk’d, Idiocracy, and a bunch of adorable pictures with his wife, Kristen Bell—would be joining Space Jam director Tony Cervone on the 2018 film.
Warner Bros. announced the project—which may or may not be the starting point for some sort of “Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe,” depending on how open to crazy-sounding rumors you are—shortly after The Lego Movie reminded its executives of the untapped potential in its animated brands. The still-uncast film would be Shepard’s third directing gig, after CHiPs, and 2012’s low-key crime comedy Hit & Run.
