DC Universe's Harley Quinn cartoon gets Kaley Cuoco and a brand new teaser
Last November, we reported that the then-unnamed DC Comics streaming service—now dubbed DC Universe—would be getting an animated series based around Harley Quinn, with Warner Bros. reportedly hoping at the time that it could convince Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie to reprise her role as Harley. That didn’t work out, but the studio did manage to land Kaley Cuoco, who has now made her Harley Quinn debut in the very first teaser for the series. The video, which debuted at New York Comic Con (or was it New York Comicvention?), shows Harley locked up in Arkham alongside Poison Ivy, and it features a bunch of self-referential meta-jokes about how dark DC adaptations tend to be (“Fuck Batman”) and how nerds tend to automatically hate everything. It’s all very Deadpool, to the point where Cuoco’s Harley even makes a joke about the scrapped Deadpool cartoon.
The Hollywood Reporter has the full cast list, and it’s surprisingly good (even if we don’t know who these people will be playing): Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, JB Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, Giancarlo Esposito, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Tony Hale, Chris Meloni, and Diedrich Bader (who is clearly playing Batman in this clip). The show will be about Harley jumpstarting her solo villain career after breaking up with the Joker, and it will reportedly have a bunch of other DC good guys and bad guys.
