DC's Vertigo will turn Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy into (very) graphic novels

According to a press release, DC Entertainment is mounting a comic adaptation of Stiegg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, the stories that have captivated us all on the cross-country flight with frequent layovers that is modern life, spinning their whimsical yarns of torture, rape, and punk-rock computer hacking. The books will be released under DC’s Vertigo imprint, which has yet to announce an artist or writer for the series (though you can probably expect to hear more during this week’s New York Comic Con). The first, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will be released in both print and digital formats in early 2012—just after David Fincher’s film version debuts—with The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest following in 2013 and 2014, respectively. So with hardcover and paperback versions, an audiobook, two separate movie trilogies, and now graphic novels, there’s only, what, video game and Broadway musical to go?
