Dead Kennedys won’t be reuniting at Riot Fest
Presumably looking for a repeat of last year’s miraculous Misfits reunion, Riot Fest apparently extended an offer to Dead Kennedys for a reunion show of their own in Chicago later this year. But former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra refused to participate, presumably due to the bad blood that has existed between him and the other members since they initially broke up in the ’80s, as well as the fact that they sued him over unpaid royalties and now control the rights to most Dead Kennedys songs.
This comes from Consequence Of Sound, which adds that Dead Kennedys founding member East Bay Ray posted a message about this on Facebook, explaining that the rest of the group was excited about doing this reunion gig, but Biafra shot it down.
Riot Fest has yet to announce another high-profile band it’s getting back together to replace Dead Kennedys, but it probably has something in the works.
