Death Cab For Cutie's new music video will be filmed and broadcast live
Death Cab For Cutie is, as this just-received press release argues, “long known for their ingenious and imaginative videos,” although we suppose one could also make the case for their being even more known for breaking through on The O.C. and also for being married to Zooey Deschanel. Yes, the entire band is married to Zooey Deschanel, which is what this kid at school told us. Anyway, fine, sure, we’ll accept the premise, as it certainly ties into the band’s upcoming history-making clip for “You Are A Tourist,” which will be the first-ever scripted music video to be filmed and broadcast live. (Except, of course, for A-ha's "Take On Me.") Directed by Tim Nackashi—no stranger to these one-take shenanigans thanks to his work with OK Go—the clip will debut on April 5 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT at this website, when you can see for yourself whether the band pulls off the stunt like seasoned pros, or totally falls apart when Ben Gibbard gets the giggles. In the meantime, here’s the track in question, which is definitely one of the bubblier songs Death Cab For Cutie has ever released. Just think of funerals or algebra problems, Ben.
