Death sucks in the first teasers for FX's What We Do In The Shadows

Taika Waititi’s What We Do In The Shadows remains a high point in the world of comedy horror, a goofy, occasionally sad, frequently funny look at how much it would suck (sorry) to be a bunch of 300-year-old dead roommates arguing over household chores and trying to fit in to the modern world. Waititi (and co-director Jemaine Clement) have been working on a US TV version of their 2014 blood-soaked delight for a while now, and we’ve finally got our first look at it, courtesy of a couple of teasers that dropped on FX’s YouTube page today, the spookiest day of the entertainment release calendar year.

Both clips are focused on Nandor, an obvious Dracula wannabe played by Kayvan Novak (Four Lions), who looks to be the show’s stand-in for Clement’s movie character, Vlad, and who seems to be having some trouble assimilating to a world where you can’t just throw ancient coinage at shop clerks all the time. Matt Berry (from Snuff Box and Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place) also shows up as another vampire, and The Magicians’ Harvey Guillen as Nandor’s put-upon assistant/familiar, Guillermo. What We Do In The Shadows debuts on FX next spring.
