Deluxe reissue of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version due Nov. 22

To paraphrase songwriter and composer Meredith Wilson, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas gift-guide season, as websites and inboxes are aglow with images of handsomely packaged, generously tracklisted reissues, box sets, and other pop artifacts too pricey to purchase during the other three-quarters of the year. Today, the wishes of various Barneys, Bens, Janices, and Jens take the form of the food-stamp card with which the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard gleefully gamed the government before plastering it on the cover 1995’s Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version—a replica of which accompanies Get On Down’s forthcoming deluxe reissue of the record. The set comes wrapped in a yellow wallet emblazoned with ODB’s mug, and features the original album along with a supplementary disc of remixes, rarities, instrumentals, and a cappellas. That, along with a reproduction of a Return-era tour poster and extended liner notes should place it at the top of any Wu-Tang disciple’s wish list—though we all know who the set’s true intended recipients are. This gift is for the children. [Pitchfork]
