Denver, see Attack The Block in 35mm tonight as part of our Science Friction series

Howdy! Senior writer Jason Heller here. Just letting you know that Science Friction, The A.V. Club’s monthly science fiction film series, continues tonight at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Denver with Attack The Block. Written and directed by Joe Cornish (Ant-Man), the 2011 film stars John Boyega (Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens) and Nick Frost (Shaun Of The Dead) in a science-fiction/horror/comedy masterpiece that centers on an alien invasion in a tough neighborhood in London and the less-than-upstanding teens who take it upon themselves to save the world. An almost instant cult classic, Attack The Block is one of the decade’s gutsiest, most charismatic thrillers—and with The Force Awakens opening this week, it’s the perfect opportunity to see the film that put Boyega on the sci-fi radar.

Like Fantastique, Science Friction’s sister series that focuses on fantasy films, Science Friction is curated and hosted by yours truly. I’ll be there in person tonight to introduce Attack The Block and pick the winners of this month’s giveaways: Two tickets to Riot Fest Denver 2016, courtesy of Riot Fest and Soda Jerk Presents; a beautifully packaged box of Star Wars Frames: 100 Postcards, courtesy of Abrams Books; and a copy of the deluxe hardcover book Star Wars: The Original Topps Trading Card Series, courtesy of Abrams Books. Like all Science Friction and Fantastique screenings, this event is sponsored by The A.V. Club. Tickets for Attack The Block are on sale now.

Upcoming schedule
