Detroit denied a RoboCop statue

As recent Super Bowl commercials featuring figure skaters, gospel choirs, and Eminem pointing at you aggressively have reinforced, Detroit is newly determined to combat the notion that it is an absolute sinkhole of despair. However, Mayor Dave Bing has declared that his plans for rehabilitating its image do not include erecting a statue of RoboCop, the city’s mechanized savior of 1987, despite a recent Twitter-based campaign. Bing gave no reason for why he wouldn’t want to pay tribute to Detroit’s dystopic future and the half man, half robot, all cop that is its only hope for survival, but it’s just assumed that he works for Dick Jones.
