Dexter gets another new showrunner

The sixth season of Showtime’s Dexter will see the series come under the direction of its fourth new showrunner: Scott Buck, a former Six Feet Under writer/producer who joined the show in its second year, will take over for exiting one-term prez Chip Johannessen, whose legacy will be that season that was so crowded with guest stars and bogged down in people falling in and out of love that the whole “serial killer” thing seemed like sort of an afterthought. Not that viewers will necessarily be aware of the difference—particularly given the distraction of Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter’s divorce (and those quickly denied salacious rumors that Julia Stiles had something to do with it), which have done the impossible by giving Dexter an interesting romantic subplot.
