Christian Slater is a proud murder-dad in first look at Dexter prequel Original Sin
Paramount+ releases the first look at Patrick Gibson, Molly Brown, and Christian Slater in Dexter prequel Original Sin
Photo: Patricky Wymore/Paramount+ with ShowtimeGood news for anyone wandering in a haze this week, trying to remember if you simply dreamed the idea of a Dexter prequel series coming into existence to complete the trifecta of “original show” and “sequel series” that we already had: Paramount+ has released several images from Dexter: Original Sin confirming that it really is happening. That includes showing off the series’ stars, Patrick Gibson, Molly Brown, and Christian Slater, as returning characters Dexter, Deb, and Harry Morgan, respectively.
And while we’ve joked that this spin-off could be credibly marketed as Young(ish) Dexter, given that Gibson, at 29, is only six years younger than Michael C. Hall was when he originally assayed the role of Miami’s favorite serial killer who only kills bad people (unless he doesn’t), we will note that the Irish actor does look at least kind of 20-years-old in some of these shots, which is reportedly how old the young Dexter is supposed to be in the show. The series will reportedly follow Dexter as he embarks on his twin careers as a crime scene analyst and crime scene creator, forging the famous “Code Of Harry” in the process as he tries to figure out the right people to murder. In addition to Gibson, Brown, and Slater, the series will also star Patrick Dempsey, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson, along with a guest star credit for Sarah Michelle Gellar as Dexter’s boss who will definitely not either a) be murdered or b) be a murderer.
Dexter: Original Sin doesn’t have a release date yet, but when it gets one, it’ll be arriving with all 10 episodes on Paramount+. Clyde Phillips, whose reputation includes “making the seasons of Dexter that people actually liked,” will serve as one of several executive producers on the show, as well as showrunner on the series.
