Diane Lane to star in FX's Y: The Last Man adaptation

We’ve been writing about the many attempts to make an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s Y: The Last Man for many years, but recently FX finally decided to order a TV pilot based on the comic (suggesting that we might actually be able to stop writing about it someday). Today, the network has announced the core cast of that pilot, once again indicating that this show about a post-apocalyptic world where (almost) all men have been wiped out might really get made this time.

The news comes from Deadline, which says Diane Lane is set to star in the show—called simply Y now, for some reason—as Senator Jennifer Brown, the mother of Yorick (the eponymous last man) and an EMT named Hero. Barry Keoghan from Dunkirk will play Yorick, with Green Room’s Imogen Poots playing his sister Hero. Y will also feature Lashana Lynch as a Secret Service agent, Juliana Canfield as Yorick’s friend Beth, and Marin Ireland as a senior assistant to the president.
