Dianne Wiest, Zoe Lister Jones join Colin Hanks in the comedy pilot Life In Pieces

Deadline reports that Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands) and Zoe Lister Jones (Whitney) will co-star with Colin Hanks and Betsy Brandt in CBS’s single-camera comedy pilot Life In Pieces. The show, from Aaron Kaplan and Better Off Ted producer Justin Adler, is about “one family, as told through separate stories of its different family members.” As previously reported, Hanks will play Greg, the family’s youngest, most coddled son. Wiest will play the matriarch, Joan Short, who “loves her family and would do absolutely anything for them—as long as she agrees with it.” So stop asking her to cover up her son’s string of murders, because a mother’s love only goes so far. Meanwhile, Lister Jones will play Hanks’ wife in this presumably murderless comedy, a woman “used to being in control who now has a baby and finds for the first time that she’s not.” We’re pretty sure that Wiest and Lister Jones will start out at odds, but then develop a mutual respect for each other when commiserating about the challenges of motherhood. But if Life In Pieces is to be the first TV show you ever watch, forget we said anything.
