Die Hard 5 given to Max Payne director

After going through the motions of pretending to consider Justin Lin, Nicholas Winding Refn, and even Attack The Block’s Joe Cornish to spur pointless speculation about what exciting new stylistic turn the Die Hard franchise might take, Fox has done what most everyone just assumed they would do in the first place and settled on Max Payne director John Moore. Of course, although Moore was already an obvious studio favorite for Die Hard 5 thanks to his work on Fox films like Behind Enemy Lines, Flight Of The Phoenix, and The Omen—all of which were in focus—he reportedly had to convince Bruce Willis that he was the right man for the job. According to Deadline, Moore did this by revealing “his grasp of how to shoot practical, non-CGI-heavy action scenes,” such as pointing the cameras at the explosions. Their team is now set to relocate to Russia, which is where John McClane will once again find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, sort of like a Die Hard movie that's set in Russia after the Cold War.
