You don’t have to be a comedian to win @Midnight. In fact, there are very few requirements for becoming an @Midnight champion; you just have to be the person Chris Hardwick screams “POINTS!” at the most, and, in the end, does anyone really want that? In any case, Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis was the latest musician to appear on the late-night game show, where he eviscerated Steve Agee and Dave Hill with his quips. Mascis is notoriously reserved in interviews, but he had plenty to say on @Midnight, throwing out Kanye West puns, Trump zingers, and without a doubt the best answers to the evening’s #HashtagWars (Agree and Hill flopped on that front). He remained his usual quiet and deadpan self, but the jokes kept coming, and he eventually joined Neko Case in the elite group of musicians who prove wittier than comedians on @Midnight.
