Directors say that 21 Jump Street/Men In Black crossover might actually happen

Confirming information first revealed as a result of the Sony hacks, 21 Jump Street co-director Phil Lord has now officially acknowledged that talks are ongoing about mounting a Jump Street/Men In Black crossover movie. According to Lord, nothing has changed as a result of the Sony leaks: “It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they’re going to be terrible,” he tells MTV. Elaborating on said terribleness, Lord added, “We’re really focusing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time.”

As to whether the film would include Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones (the latter of whom we just can’t picture hanging out with Jonah Hill on set), Lord explained that their participation is still being discussed, as is everything about this idea. At the very least, we know that Hill is eager to sign on to the project, because as MTV notes, in the original leaked email he called the idea “clean and rad and powerful.” And if Sony slaps that onto the poster, how can anyone resist?
