Douglas Adams’ extravagant, erudite detective makes his debut on BBC America in just over a week, so the network’s trotting out sneak peeks at New York Comic Con panels. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency was previously glimpsed in a couple of jumbled, loquacious clips, but in this latest preview, we see Dirk (Samuel Barnett) trying to set up rent-free shop in Todd Brotzman‘s (Elijah Wood) apartment. Todd’s not happy about the breaking and entering, a fact that surprises the garrulous gumshoe, who’s used to hitching a ride on someone else’s dime. But Todd’s not yet interested in working with Dirk, especially not as his assistant (or Watson). We imagine few people would want to team up with a guy who crawled through their window, but this is Adams—and BBC America, for that matter—we’re talking about, so it’s just a matter of time before he tags along to wryly observe Dirk’s sleuthing shenanigans.
