Dirty Projectors' new album gets title and release date

As previously reported, Dirty Projectors have been hard at work on the follow-up to 2009's critically adored Bitte Orca to be released this spring. It turns out the LP will be coming out slightly later than that: The album, now called Swing Lo Magellan, will be out July 10. Described by frontman David Longstreth as "an album of songwriting," Magellan was assembled over the course of 12 months of writing and recording, during which time Longstreth stockpiled 70 songs and beats. (The finished record has 12 tracks.) The LP has been teased with the coolly soulful "Gun Has No Trigger," which suggests a turn from the hyperactive R&B of Orca.
