Discover a world run by corporations in Syfy’s Incorporated trailer
Imagine a terrifying dystopia where every aspect of our lives is controlled by omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent corporations. In that not-so-distant future, picture giant companies that control everything from consumer goods to our financial system, even the DNA patents to our food. Prisons and paramilitary forces might even be privatized, and these groups would have infiltrated our political system, irreversibly embedding themselves into a system of control.
Once you are done enduring that thought exercise, fire up this trailer for the upcoming Syfy series, Incorporated. A pet project of Super Friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon since 2014, this nightmare of unchecked capitalism run amok seems designed to challenge audiences. On the one hand, the role and behavior of real-life companies like Amazon, Wells Fargo, and Monsanto make this vision seem over-simplistic, bordering on the naïve. On the other hand, those body-recognition scans and augmented-reality projections sure seem like fun.
Produced by Affleck and Damon’s Pearl Street Films, Incorporated will star Sean Teale (Reign) as a young, upwardly mobile professional who is really infiltrating a nefarious corporation—presumably with the intention of bringing it down from the inside.
The trailer unfolds to present two worlds: one a tantalizingly pristine, totalitarian regime, and the other a dingy underbelly of resistance. This dichotomy forces us to ponder heavy questions, such as, “Why the hell would this guy jeopardize his sweet gig?” And, “If he wins, does he have to go back to living in that corrugated jungle of dank favelas with the ‘good guys?’” Those questions will likely plague our hero as he’s led towards temptation by the mahogany-voice of corruption, Dennis Haysbert. Joining Teale and Haysbert are Julia Ormond, Allison Miller (Terra Nova). and Eddie Ramos (Teen Wolf).
Incorporated premiers on Syfy November 30.
