Disney bans heavy metal
Florida metal band Machine Head have sent out a press release claiming that a "stunning" (stunning!) last-minute decision by Walt Disney Properties has forbidden them from performing tomorrow at the House Of Blues Anaheim (which is on Disneyland grounds). Citing "violent imagery, undesirable fans, and inflammatory lyrics," Disney reportedly pressured the promoter, Live Nation, to cancel not only Machine Head's "Black Tyranny" bill (also featuring Arch Enemy, Throwdown, and Sanctity) but all upcoming heavy metal shows, with some acts apparently banned "on name alone." Of course, Disney has yet to confirm any of this, so it's entirely possible that Machine Head's show was canceled for a more pedestrian reason—lackluster ticket sales, for instance—and all of this is a lot of smoke and mirrors meant to illustrate how "controversial" the band is. (Because nothing is more metal than getting banned from Disneyland.)
By the way, Disney, if you're still on a banning music kick, could you maybe summon your powers and do something about this?
